John Hilary

John Hilary has published widely on global trade and other international issues over the past twenty years, and was appointed an honorary professor at the University of Nottingham in 2013. His latest book, From Refugees to Royalty: The remarkable story of the Messel family of Nymans, was published by Peter Owen Publishers in spring 2021. He is currently researching the fine art collections of German Jewish migrants in the Victorian and Edwardian periods, and is co-editing with Tom Stammers a special issue of the Journal of the History of Collections on that theme for 2022.
