Aufbau was founded in 1934 by the German-Jewish Club, targeting a global Germanspeaking Jewish readership, and published in New York until April 2004. Hannah Arendt, Albert Einstein, Thomas Mann and Stefan Zweig wrote for the publication. It is now based in Switzerland.
The work of the Jewish Country Houses project inspired a special issue in 202?. For Abigail Green and Tom Stammers, it was an honour to publish in this context – and in German too. For the whole project, it was exciting to see the way in which other authors picked up the baton and developed the theme in different ways.
